Elders Violet and Connie will share stories about northern Alberta bush life and its relevance today. They will discuss the importance of the revitalization of their language to youth as well as share their pride in being Dene Suline and how it affects the work they do in the community today.
August 18 at 1:00 pm - The Seven Sacred Teachings: Sit virtually with Elder Jackie Bromley for an intimate conversation focusing on the importance of the Seven Sacred Teachings, what they are, and the stories behind them. Elder Jackie will share her thoughts on the significance of these teachings and how they are even more relevant during historic events like the current COVID-19 pandemic.
August 19 at 1:00 pm - A Personal Look into Residential Schools: Born in the Siksika Nation, Blackfoot Elders Kelly and Daphne Good Eagle will engage in a frank and thoughtful discussion about their time in Indian Residential Schools, its role in intergenerational trauma, and how they are now defining their roles as Elders today. Join us and we sit with these respected Blackfoot Elders and learn firsthand about this challenging part of Alberta’s history.
